Additional information

This section contains useful information, tips on choosing and caring for a sauna.
Installing the sauna and preparing the foundation
  • The sauna is transported ready-assembled.
  • In order to place the sauna in the desired location, access to this location is necessary
  • The sauna can be placed, for example, on expanded clay concrete blocks or screw piles
  • It is desirable to remove the fertile layer of soil under the sauna and fill the resulting pit with fine gravel or pebbles.
  • The blocks should be placed at least 10-15cm above the ground so that there is free air space under the sauna for ventilation.

Sauna operating rules

Before use

  • Before lighting the stove, the ash pan of the stove must be cleaned and the water from the boiler (if any) must be drained.
  • It is recommended to use dry, high-quality hardwood briquettes or completely dry firewood to fuel the stove.
  • The recommended temperature of the sauna room is 60-70C and the relative humidity is 50-60% (this is ensured by periodic “ventilation”). The traditional sauna is not intended for use at excessively high temperatures (above 85C), as this is unhealthy and a fire hazard!

During use

  • When the desired temperature is reached, it is recommended not to stop heating the stove, but to reduce the intensity. This will provide the bath stones with the necessary amount of heat so that you can “take a breath” sufficiently and regularly.

After using the sauna

  • After sauna procedures, the sauna room and the anteroom must be thoroughly dried. This will significantly extend the total operating life of the sauna.
  • To dry the sauna, first open the ventilation hatch in the anteroom and the door to the sauna. Do not open the sauna window! You can effectively dry the sauna by additionally heating the stove after sauna procedures.

Periodically

  • Over time, some of the sauna stones “burn out” and need to be replaced. Approximately once every two years.
  • The condition of the stove, chimney and insulation should be monitored every year.
  • Every few years, the color of the sauna should be renewed by repainting.
